The WordPress MCP Adapter shipped as part of the WordPress Abilities API, and within months four different plugins built commercial or freemium ability sets on top of it. That’s good for the ecosystem and confusing for anyone trying to pick one. We built one of them — WDS MCP Content Manager Pro — so this isn’t a neutral third-party review. It is, however, an accurate one: every number below is pulled directly from each plugin’s own wordpress.org listing.

Where each one actually wins
WPVibe — if you live in a page builder
WPVibe’s native integration spans Elementor, Bricks, Breakdance, Beaver Builder, and Divi, and it’s the only one of the four that lets an agent safely edit theme PHP files through a sandboxed workflow. With 10,000+ active installs and a 4.9-star rating across 27 reviews, it’s also the most battle-tested. The tradeoff: the plugin itself is free, but heavier usage routes through WPVibe’s own hosted service with daily action limits — a different cost model than a flat license.
Royal MCP — if you need the widest AI-client reach
170+ tools is more than double what any of the other three expose, and the integration list (Yoast, ACF, UpdraftPlus, WPForms, Redirection, on top of WooCommerce and Elementor) covers plugins the others don’t touch at all. It’s also the only one built for non-Claude/ChatGPT models out of the box — Gemini, Groq, Azure OpenAI, Bedrock, and local Ollama models are all first-class. If your team is model-agnostic or self-hosting inference, this matters more than ability count.
AtlasAI Connector — if you need workflow automation and access control
The newest and smallest of the four by install count (100+ vs. 10,000+ for the other two), but its OAuth 2.1 + role-based access control is the most granular — useful if multiple people or agents need different permission levels on the same site. The AI-powered error debugger and workflow builder are genuinely unique; neither WPVibe, Royal MCP, nor WDS MCP Content Manager Pro has an equivalent.
WDS MCP Content Manager Pro — if you run a multilingual or WooCommerce-heavy site
We’re not going to pretend 45 abilities beats Royal MCP’s 170+ — it doesn’t, and if raw tool count or non-Claude model support is what you need, Royal MCP is the better fit. What WDS covers, it covers deliberately: 13 WooCommerce abilities (including JSON-LD product schema injection), 8 native Elementor abilities, and — the one gap none of the other three fill — 6 Polylang abilities for setting language and linking translations on posts, pages, and taxonomy terms in the same agent session. For a bilingual or multi-market WordPress site, that’s the difference between an agent handling a full EN+DE content pair end to end versus you doing the Polylang linking by hand afterward. Pricing is also structurally different: €49 once per domain, not a recurring plan.
